A friend of my mom's hosts a St Urho's day party every year on Mar 16, it's really all about the Finnish food. There was fish stew (kala moijakka, I know I'm spelling that wrong...) flat bread and much salmon and dill, sometimes together. There were the star shaped tarts/cookies, but they had dates rather than prunes so my brother and I once again had the conversation that goes "We really need to make these ourselves sometime."
A friend of ours decided to throw together a St Patrick's day party yesterday. St Patrick's day always reminds me of my sister-in-law's threat/plan to make green buffalo wings some year. (Green tabasco rather than red etc.)
And today is kind-of a personal holiday. I don't do anything to celebrate Mar 18, in fact, it usually passes by unnoticed. But back when I was a shy and awkward pre-teen, it was a Mar 18th, I don't remember the year, that I first looked into a mirror and decided I really liked who I saw. I've always liked the me I inhabit, but it was a new thing to see myself in the mirror uncritically.
