Eventful day
Feb. 5th, 2008 09:57 pmSince xmas I've been lazy and spendthrift and have driven to work most days. (Spendthrift = parking downtown) Today I actually got my ass out of bed early enough to catch an express bus and got to work at a slightly earlier hour.
The day went well in happy and unexpected ways.
The client extended my contract for an additional month, so I'm gainfully employed through March. (And I have reasonably good prospects at a different client after that.)
Then walking down the hallway to the break room, a familiar voice said my name. It was a friend I've perhaps seen a half dozen times since jr or sr high. Then, as
badger2305 might say, we danced the dance of Minnesotan friends long separated: We expressed our surprise and pleasure at seeing each other after at least 10 years while unconsciously trying to remember if we're handshake or hug friends. A couple false starts and we settled on hug. We have plans to have lunch later this week and catch up properly.
Getting to work at a reasonable hour meant I could leave at a reasonable hour AND not have to work from home this evening. And I actually had time to read, 'cause what else do you do on the bus for 35 minutes?
